It was a bit of a challenge finding the I Greppi di Silli farm, deep among the hills between Florence and Siena.
Once again on a cool, cloudy and damp day we arrived and were greeted by the owner, Michele Porcu and his assistant Giada.
We walked with Michele while discussing the various cultivars on his farm, and were immersed in the verdant green splendor among his olive trees. After which, we settled into one of his rental apartments (the farm is also an Agritourismo) for a tasting.
What a treat! Not only did we taste all of his new production (9 different extra virgins) but Michele also brought out his delicious array of native honeys! He is also a serious beekeeper and he brings his bees all over the countryside. Depending on their location and proximity to plants and trees, they produce the most amazing different flavors of honey from their natural surroundings!
We are fortunate this year, to not only to be the first in the U.S. to import his spectacular extra virgin olive oils but also to be offering this very special honey from Tuscany!
